At an age when most professional golfers have long since stepped away from competitive play, Vijay Singh continues to demonstrate that experience, determination and a passion for the game remain powerful ingredients for success. The 63-year-old World Golf Hall of Famer captured the 2026 SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina, delivering a composed performance that recalled the brilliance of his celebrated career.

Singh closed with a 3-under-par 69 to finish at 9-under 207, securing a two-stroke victory over fellow Hall of Famer Ernie Els. The triumph marked his sixth PGA Tour Champions title and his first victory since the 2023 Ally Challenge. For Singh, whose legendary work ethic helped produce 34 PGA Tour victories and three major championships, the win represented a welcome return to form following a challenging season.

Entering Sunday’s final round tied for the lead with Tim O’Neal and Freddie Jacobson, Singh relied on the steady ball-striking and patient approach that have defined his career. With difficult weather conditions testing the field, the veteran remained composed while several challengers struggled to maintain their momentum.

The turning point came around the turn, where Singh birdied the ninth hole before chipping in for another birdie at the 10th. A further birdie at the par-5 12th strengthened his advantage, allowing him to navigate the closing stretch with the confidence of a seasoned champion. Six consecutive pars completed a memorable afternoon and secured another impressive addition to his distinguished résumé. Els finished runner-up at 7-under, while Alex Cejka and Tag Ridings shared third at 6-under.

Beyond the trophy, Singh’s victory offered a reminder of golf’s remarkable ability to reward perseverance and longevity. Once the world’s top-ranked player and a formidable rival to Tiger Woods, the Fijian has never abandoned the relentless dedication that made him one of the game’s finest competitors.

With the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs approaching, Singh’s return to the winner’s circle could hardly have come at a better time. For a champion whose career has spanned generations, the message was unmistakable: age may change the game, but the desire to win remains timeless.
