In a season that continues to establish him among the rising stars of international golf, Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra delivered another impressive performance at the 2026 DP World India Championship, capturing his third DP World Tour title of the year and strengthening his position as one of the game’s most promising young competitors.
Played at the historic Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi, the championship brought together an accomplished international field competing for a $4 million purse. With its narrow, tree-lined fairways, demanding approach shots and distinctive setting, the course provided a fitting stage for four days of championship golf.

Chacarra, 26, demonstrated both determination and composure throughout the tournament, posting rounds of 67, 67, 63 and 70 to finish at 21-under-par 267, two strokes ahead of New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier. The victory was particularly impressive considering the Spaniard was competing with a fractured toe, an injury that might have sidelined a less determined competitor.
Weather interruptions created an unusually demanding final day, requiring Chacarra to complete 25 holes on Sunday. After finishing his third round in spectacular fashion, he entered the closing round with a commanding advantage. However, Hillier mounted a spirited challenge, producing an impressive back-nine charge that briefly threatened to overturn the Spaniard’s lead.
Chacarra remained composed, relying on timely par saves and disciplined shot-making to secure the championship. Hillier finished alone in second at 19-under, while Adrian Meronk and Angel Hidalgo shared third at 15-under. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood was among those tied for fifth at 13-under.
For Chacarra, the triumph continued an extraordinary season that included consecutive victories at the KLM Open and Italian Open in June. His latest success marked the fourth DP World Tour victory of his career and carried him to the top of the Race to Dubai standings, moving ahead of Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy with three tournaments remaining.
The victory also reinforced Chacarra’s growing affinity for India. Just a year earlier, he captured the 2025 Hero Indian Open at nearby DLF Golf and Country Club, making this his second significant championship triumph on Indian soil. While Chacarra commanded the spotlight, the championship represented another important chapter in the continuing growth of professional golf in India. The tournament attracted an impressive collection of international talent, including McIlroy, Fleetwood and Justin Rose, while offering Indian professionals the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s finest players.

The event’s increasing importance was further emphasized by the announcement that DP World would extend its sponsorship of the championship through 2035, providing a significant commitment to the future of tournament golf in the region.
As the DP World Tour approaches its season-ending events, Chacarra’s latest victory has introduced an intriguing storyline to the Race to Dubai. With confidence, momentum and three victories already secured in 2026, the young Spaniard has placed himself in an enviable position to pursue one of European golf’s most prestigious season-long honors.
For Chacarra, the championship in Delhi was more than another trophy. It was further evidence of a talented young player developing the consistency, resilience and competitive character necessary to succeed on golf’s international stage. And with the season’s final chapters still to be written, his finest achievement of the year may yet lie ahead.
