At East Lake Golf Club, with the FedExCup hanging in the balance, Scheffler produced the kind of closing performance that has become increasingly familiar during his remarkable run at the top of the game. Beginning the final round three strokes behind Viktor Hovland, Scheffler fired a six-under-par 66 to win the TOUR Championship by three shots and claim the 2026 FedExCup.

It was another memorable chapter in a career that continues to gather momentum. Scheffler served notice early that Sunday would not belong easily to Hovland. At the par-3 second, a beautifully struck 5-iron came within inches of an ace, setting up a birdie and immediately cutting into the deficit. Another birdie at the fourth followed, and Scheffler steadily worked his way toward the top of the leaderboard.
There was little drama in his demeanor. There rarely is. While others around him attempted to navigate the pressure of the PGA Tour’s season finale, Scheffler remained characteristically composed, trusting the dependable ball-striking and measured course management that have made him the standard against which the rest of professional golf is increasingly judged.

By the back nine, the championship had begun to turn. A birdie at the 13th moved Scheffler into the lead, and from there he never surrendered control. Hovland, so impressive through the first three rounds, was unable to answer. Scheffler closed out his 66 and finished the week at 16-under-par 264, three strokes ahead of Hovland and four clear of Ryan Gerard.
The victory was Scheffler’s third of the 2026 season and the 22nd PGA Tour title of his career. It also delivered his second FedExCup championship, joining his 2024 triumph and placing him in select company alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as multiple winners of the PGA Tour’s season-long prize. Yet the numbers tell only part of the story.

Scheffler’s season was another demonstration of the remarkable consistency that has defined his place atop the game. Even when victories did not come, his name rarely disappeared from the first page of the leaderboard. Five runner-up finishes, two third-place results and three fourth-place finishes accompanied his three wins, illustrating just how difficult it has become for the rest of the Tour to separate itself from the world’s best player.
His road through the FedExCup Playoffs offered another example. Scheffler captured the FedEx St. Jude Championship to open the postseason before battling illness at the BMW Championship. Despite the physical challenge, he managed another strong finish and arrived at East Lake with an opportunity to complete the season in fitting fashion.

He did exactly that. Winning the FedExCup requires more than one brilliant week. It rewards excellence accumulated across an entire season and, ultimately, the ability to perform when the stakes are at their highest. Scheffler checked every box.
His triumph at East Lake also carried another significant milestone, as the $10 million first prize pushed his official PGA Tour career earnings beyond $130 million and to the top of the Tour’s all-time money list. Different generations make financial comparisons imperfect, but the accomplishment further illustrates how rapidly Scheffler has assembled one of the most impressive résumés of the modern era.

At 30, Scheffler has already collected 22 PGA Tour victories and two FedExCup championships, while establishing a level of week-to-week consistency rarely seen in professional golf. There will be more championships to chase and more comparisons with the game’s great players to consider. Those conversations can wait. For now, the image that closes the 2026 PGA Tour season is a familiar one: Scottie Scheffler standing above the rest.
